OCTOBER 2007 HIGHLIGHTS

The tail end of migration and the arrival of some early over wintering species made for a marvellous selection of birds in the Camargue area for October. Here are the highlights.

1st - White Stork, Bluethroat, poss. Barred Warbler at Marais du Vigueirat.

2nd - Stone Curlew, pair at Mas d'Agon.

3rd - Probable White- backed Woodpecker at Marais du Vigueirat.

4th - Subalpine Warber, pair at Bois de Santa Fe.

5th - Temminck's Stint, Hobby at Etang du Fangassier.

7th - Black Stork at Tour du Valat.

9th - Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Moustached Warbler at Marais du Vigueirat.

12th - Ring Ouzel, Rock Bunting, Citril Finch at Mont Ventoux.

15th - Richard's Pipit at Mas Chauvet, Crau.

19th - Griffon Vulture, Eagle Owl at Le Destet.

22nd - Moustached Warbler, Golden Plover, Grey Plover at Etang de Vaccares.

23rd - Blackcap, Penduline Tit, Firecrest at Marais du Vigueirat.

24th - White Stork, Great Spotted Eagle (juv) at Tour du Valat.

Red Kite at Mas de Lauricet.

27th - White Stork, Water Pipit, Great Reed Warbler at Marais du Vigueirat

29th - Common Eider, flock of 30 off Plage Napoleon, Port St. Louis.
